Each year in early spring, the descendants of the Kabi Kabi people gather at dawn on Coolum Beach, on the Sunshine Coast in Australia.
As the first light breaks and the sun rises over the ocean, a beautiful and profound ritual of fire, song, stories and dance takes place. It speaks of a deep connection to and respect for the land that we collectively inhabit, and encourages us, as the current custodians of that land, to come together to continue that connection and respect.
